The Kiwanis Club of Ames awards several $1,000 scholarships each year to graduating seniors from Ames High School and/or Gilbert High School who plan to continue their education at an accredited college, university, or vocational school.

This year we awarded a college scholarship to Ames High graduate Macy Vollbrecht. Vollbrecht will attend Univrsity of Minnesota to study genetics.  While an Ames High student, Macy was involved in the Kiwanis Key Club, a high school group focusing on service activities.

Scholarship awards are made payable in both the name of the student and the educational institution of their choice. The scholarship money must be used for educational expenses in the first year of study.

To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.50. Selection from amoung applicants is based upon their history of community service,
level and variety of school activities, community awards and recognition, future plans, and GPA, with the most consideration given to community service. Financial need is also considered.

To apply for a scholarship award, please open, print and fill-in an
application. Submit the completed form to your high school guidance counselor. The annual deadline for applications is March 1.
